Bed cooling · Europe

Cool the bed, not just the room.

For one or two sleepers, cooling the bed often beats cooling the whole room, and costs less to run. Here is what actually ships to Europe, what it costs, and where the money is better spent. First read how the four methods differ.

Active cooling, by what reaches Europe

For most people here, BedJet or HydroSnooze is the practical buy. Eight Sleep is the premium option if budget is no object and you want the sleep tracking. Sleepme is the one to skip; it does not ship to the EU.

Smart water-cooled cover Subscription required

Eight Sleep Pod 5

from €3,099 · plus Autopilot subscription
12 to 43 °CDual zone
  • Cools to 12 °C and heats to 43 °C, with each side of the bed independent
  • Tracks heart rate, breathing and sleep stages, and adjusts through the night
  • Ships to the EU and UK from Eight Sleep with a 30-night trial

The Autopilot subscription is mandatory for the first year. Without it the Pod loses its automatic temperature, tracking, alarms and snoring features, and the longer warranty needs a paid tier.

Forced air

BedJet 3

from €399 · often on offer from €699
airflow cooling, not refrigeratedDual zone optional38 to 43 dB
  • Blows temperature-controlled air through a sheet; cools by airflow and evaporation
  • No subscription, full control from the physical remote
  • Ships free within the EU and UK from a Netherlands warehouse, 60-day returns

It moves air rather than chilling it, so it does not get as cold as a water system, and the airflow makes more noise.

Water-cooled pad

HydroSnooze cooling pad

~€971 on Amazon · around €800 direct
15 to 55 °CSingle zoneunder 35 dB (claimed)
  • Active water cooling and heating at roughly a third of a smart cover’s price
  • No app or subscription; a remote sets the temperature
  • Sold on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de with EU delivery, plus its own EU store

A budget unit with no sleep tracking; the noise and warranty figures are the maker’s own.

Water-cooled pad Not sold in the EU

Sleepme Dock Pro (Chilipad)

from about $1,599
13 to 46 °CSingle zone
  • A well-regarded water pad in the US, with a wide temperature range
  • Bedside dock with a quiet pump and a simple temperature dial

Sleepme ships only within the US and runs on US voltage, so it is not a practical buy in Europe. It is here because people search for it; HydroSnooze is the EU-available equivalent.

Cheaper: cooling toppers

Passive toppers use no power and cost a fraction of an active system. They feel cool and slow heat build-up, but cannot keep removing heat all night. A sensible first step for a mildly warm sleeper.

Passive graphite foam

Simba Cool Foam topper

from £149
Single zone
  • Graphite-infused foam draws heat away; no power and nothing to refill
  • A cheap first step for a mildly warm sleeper
  • Sits on your existing mattress in five sizes

Passive: it feels cool and slows heat build-up, but it cannot keep removing heat all night like an active pad.

Passive gel foam

OTTY cooling topper

from £99
Single zone
  • Gel-infused memory foam with a washable cover
  • The lowest-cost way to take the edge off a warm bed

Passive cooling only; best for someone who runs slightly warm rather than a genuinely hot sleeper.

Cooling mattresses from EU brands

These market "cooling," but the technology is passive: graphite or gel foam, cool-touch covers and airflow. Useful if you are buying a mattress anyway, not a reason to replace a good one.

Is it the room, not the bed?

If the whole room overheats, a portable AC is the better fix. The finder sizes one to your space.
